In the United States, the term “mobile home” refers to manufactured housing which is a housing that is assembled in factories and transported to the sites of use. A mobile home is commonly referred to factory-built housing or trailer and there are, undoubtedly, a lot of choices of mobile home metal skirting. Many mobile home owners choose to use metal skirting due to its durable, proof against rust and easy installation which usually only takes one or approximately two days. Also, remember Tom&Jerry? Jerry build a house inside the wall, a metal skirting can barricade animals like rodents or mice that would like to set up home like Jerry. So, this is how you properly install metal skirting in your mobile home.
The first step, hang a plumb-bob on one of the corners of the mobile home, exactly where you are planning to install the entire metal skirting. Then, to tighten plumb-bob points, you need a hammer and hammer a piece of rebar in the ground at the plumb-bob points where it attached. Remember to repeat doing this at all corner of the home. Remember; do not make any gap for Jerry to build home. Now, between the pieces of rebar, tie an inch or two continuous strings above the ground. Next, set the 2 by 4 lumber next on the edge of the string.
Step two is related to the wooden stakes. You need to pound them to the ground behind the exact pressure treated lumber. And then, attach the lumber to the stakes, tighten it with screws. After that, do not forget to dig approximately 6 inch deep trench in front of the lumber and with pea gravel, fill the trench with it. Step three is pretty much about measurement, here you have to measure up to 4 inches from the bottom part of your home to install the J-channel all the way around. This J-channel is where the metal skirting will fits.
The next step is to measure the length between J-channel to pea rock match the length of metal skirting. Attach metal skirting to J-channel properly and tighten it with screws. Repeat this process once again and then overlap the previous one with the last one. This process then needs to be repeated until all around the home is placed with metal skirting. That may seem a bit hard, but a professional skill does not really needed as long as you follow these metal mobile home skirting steps thoroughly.
